Hey there this is Leslie Kolovich. Today’s podcast I interview Jillian Morris. This girl wears many hats when it comes to the underwater world. She’s a marine biologist, ocean advocate, videographer, photographer, a free diver, scuba instructor, educator, outreach coordinator, rebreather diver, writer, and underwater model.
She and her husband were the film crew for last seasons popular, and controversial Animal Planet series Whale Wars. She talks about this experience of being on call 24 hours to film events as they happen. Aboard the Sea Shepard’s Brigitte Bardot the experiences are raw and the videography truly tells the story of what is happening.
Jillian talks about her passion for shark conservation, the importance of sharks in our oceans, her research, and her experience of looking eye to eye with a Great White outside of a cage. She is passionate about filming underwater and with her images she is the voice for these amazing animals. It is her goal to change the way humans think about sharks.
Education is the key. The message, “Think Global, Act Local”. This is not just a message to people living on our coasts, this is a message for all. We need healthy oceans for our existence.
