Leslie Kolovich talks with Adam Kelinson author of “The Athlete’s Plate: Real Food For High Performance”.
Adam is an accomplished chef, creator of Organic Perfomance, a nutritional consultant to premier athletes such as Jamie Mitchell (10x Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Race Winner). Adam also is a 3 time Ironman finisher. One of his goals is to recreate relationships between food and sports showing us how to eat for a competitive edge with food not suppliments. In this podcast Adam talks about the importance of eating fresh, seasonal and as local as possible. He also talks about trying to get people to think less while shopping, “ it’s just too exhausting“, if we show up at a Farmers Market we can be ensured that we can buy what is on the table and enjoy it. A Farmers Market provides food that has been picked between 12-24 hours, it is fresh with the highest quality and flavor, you can’t go wrong! We don’t need to stress about pairing foods from a Farmers Market. Here’s a good rule of thumb, “if it grows together it goes together”. Food is about community, get together with your paddle friends make a trip to the Farmers Market, go for your paddle come back put it all together.
With fresh foods you don’t have to do much to them, the flavor is exceptional in raw form. Adam speaks about an upcoming event he is pairing up with Jamie Mitchell in the Hamptons,“Sup Performance Clinics” July 13th and 15th.
