Precision Paddleboards

This segment is brought to you by Precision Paddleboards

Donnie Dumain (who in Leslie’s opinion is The Sup Connecter of the World) joins Leslie Kolovich and Josh Vajda to discuss this year’s Surf Expo that was held in Orlando January 11-14th.  The Stand Up Paddle section was 1/3 larger than last years event, the entire show was the largest in 7 years.  Donnie, Josh and Leslie talk about new board companies, gear, trends, and who fell in the demo pool! It seems this year  SUP fishing boards, white water boards, touring, fitness and racing.  New companies this year Boga Boards, MHL custom boards, and BOTE Sup boards just to name a few.  We talk about the super sleek Puma Board Laird $6,500 wow!  You gotta take a look at this!  A very intriguing with very high end materials and a lot of technology behind it.  It raced at the Orange Bowl Paddle Championship looked really good on the water! Leslie also did some video with Sam Root of Saltyshores.com and Josh Vajda did some great video interviews at the show.  The crew also talks about the successful race in Miami following surf expo.  The event coordinators really reached out to the Expo manufactures!  The Orange Bowl Paddle Championship boasted the best of the West Coast and the East Coast with over 200 paddlers!  This event was meaningful to the main charity Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami.

Donnie represents Victory Koredry which has been making technical garments for water sports since 1978.

KoreDry™ fabric is a revolutionary technological advancement for water sports. This material when immersed in water will remain dry at the fiber’s core enabling the garment to continue insulating and while out of the water, dry incredibly quick.

SUP Wheels at Surf Expo 2012 Orlando Florida

Leslie Kolovich teams up with Sam Root of Saltyshores.com to do video interviews at Surf Expo 2012 in Orlando Florida.  Alan Huntley inventor of SUP Wheels talks about his very innovative product . The wheels help facility the transportation of SUP Boards to and from the water.  They make it very easy, to transport even 2 boards at a time. The wheels are all terrain, no air needed so no flat tires! They work very well in the sand and can fold up and bungie right to your board. They weigh only 8 pounds and sell for $139.00 Check them out at supwheels.com

Bote SUP Fishing Board At Surf Expo Orlando 2012

Leslie Kolovich joined forces with Sam Root of Saltyshores.com for video interviews at Surf Expo 2012 in Orlando Florida.  Enjoy the very informative interview with Magda Cooper, Co-owner of Bote SUP Paddle Boards as she talks about their SUP fishing Board. Bote wanted a board that would appeal to more than just surfers. It’s a very versatile board with the ability to carry up to 350-400 pounds of people and/or gear. Being 12′ long 32″ wide 5″ thick, makes it very stable and weighs only 30lbs. SUP fishing is really catching on as a new way to fish. Standing on top of a board gives the angler that much more visibility to sneak up on fish. Bote Boards are based in Destin Florida.

StandUp Journal Behind The Scene Stories Of The Winter 2011/2012 Photo Annual

SUP Radio Show Host Leslie Kolovich

Clay Feeter joins Leslie Kolovich to talk about the Stories behind the incredible photos of the 2011/2012 Winter Photo Annual.  Clay joins SUP Radio from winter headquarters for the StandUp Journal crew in Santa Cruz California. Clay grew up in Santa Cruz and was so happy to share moments on the water in beautiful Santa Cruz with Joyce his wife who grew up in New Hampshire.  Clay and Joyce drove 9 1/2 days from New Hampshire to spend the winter to SUP in Santa Cruz, Capitola Beach.  Clay has been getting some work done out there, as this is the Journal’s 5th year in publication and this Spring issue will be their 17th issue.STANDUP JOURNAL

Clay starts off the stories in Capitola Beach paddling in the kelp beds, sea otters and pelicans.  If you have photos of Santa Cruz SUP you can send them to the Journal for a special feature on Santa Cruz up until May 15, 2012.  Clay takes us through several shots from big barrel paddling, to a killer wipeout, a double wave hold down on Cloudbreak off Fiji.   Then to white water with Slater Trout at the Teva Mountain Games, an incredible GoPro shot from Pompano Florida by Sarah Langdon, a still life of Dan Gavere in his van duck taping his shin guards.  We see next a really nice flat water shot from Wrightsville North Carolina, Australian paddlers on a huge huge wave, then Florida’s Chase Kosterlitz paddling next to a giant cruise ship in Miami.

These  photos are just a thumbnail of the photos of this issue.  The Standup Journal is a coffee table keeper.  This is the magazine you will never throw out!  The crew at the Journal try to keep the bar raised higher and higher with each issue.  They for sure have done it again!  Make sure you get one for yourself to see and feel the excitement of this Winter Photo Annual!
